In 2007, as part of the events organised to mark the year devoted to Catalan poet Salvador Espriu, I collaborated in making the Pel camí dels ulls (Along the eyes’ path) show, based on texts by the poet. To accompany this show, directed by Teresa Vilardell and performed by the actress Fina Rius, I composed a few short pages for four-hands piano. Shortly afterwards, and in coordination with the performers - the Mireia Fornells and Joan Miquel Hernández duo, I finished the fragments to create a piece that could be performed independently from the show it was initially created for.
This new work for four-hands piano was developed from a waltz rhythm – a waltz that recreates the mood of the dreamlike show, and that is filled with allegories.
The composition is made up of two fundamental elements: an insistent waltz rhythm and some short and fast motifs that envelop it.
