Esguards silents (Silent sights), in the present version for Guitar and String Quartet, comes from the original version for Guitar and String Orchestra, composed in 2003. That original version was performed that same year 2003 in the Argentinian city of Rosario, and interpreted by the Argentinian guitarist Sergio Puccini together with the Orquesta Municipal de Cámara de Rosario.
This version dates from summer 2005 and was commissioned by the Catalan guitarist Àlex Garrobé who had performed the original version of the work in the festival 3rd Colombo-Catalan Week, in April 2005 in Medellín, Colombia.
The piece is in three movements, Uncertainty, Bewilderment and Desolation. Each one of them wants to express a emotional state as it could be felt by a child from any country in front of the disasters of a war. The piece is dedicated to children that has had to go through the horrors of a war.
The inspiration to write this piece was aroused by the impact of some images on TV at the starting point of the war that USA conducted against Irak.
