This work, some five minutes in length, is formed in a manner similar to the succession of verses which go to make up a poem. Musically speaking, all the melodic lines are derived from the fluctuation of intervals included within the range of minor and major thirds, melancholic in tone and which, in those moments of greatest expressive intensity, expand into wider lines and chords.
In the first section of the Duo, the flute plays the melodic part. This then passes briefly to the guitar after which the two instruments alternate and complement each other in the main role. The third section is a mixture of development and cadence which leads to a brief recapitulation of the initial sequence and to the conclusion in which emphasises the sorrowfull aspect of the predominantly wistful nature of nostalgic theme of the composition.
