This work was commissioned by guitarist Juan Becerra, to whom it is dedicated.
Write a piece for guitar has been a challenge for me because it is the first time I compose for this instrument which I like so much. The experience was exciting, and I hope you, friend guitarist, enjoy as much as we have enjoyed throughout the process, concerts, meetings to discuss the work and even heated discussions about if a coma would be necessary in one of the bars. I also wanted to do a tribute to the name John, because casually I know a few Johns who are very special to me and loved.
The work is inspired by the magical night of Saint John and proposes to let us take a little trip to the world of emotions, from the calm to joy, the fullness to melancholy, the party to a reflection more intimate. Technically, this structure starting with a brief introduction that gives way to different sections. The piece ends up reminding us the first theme which leads us to the end with a tango rhythm. In the shortest night and longest day of the year, anything is possible!
We agreed to give continuity to the work, with the creation of the Winter Solstice.
