The pieces has a characteristic sound resulting from the harmonic system that is used, which is essentially based on the linking of minor chords a major third apart, a resource already seen in the piece Arc en Ciel for flute quartet by the same composer.
This being the atmosphere of the piece, melody and counterpoint will play an important role, in a piece that could be described as youthful, in the sense that its only desire –which is quite something in itself– is to be beautiful.
