Since I was very young I have been creating this rich internal world, one full of nuances and experiences. All kinds of sensations and feelings lived wholly in everyday existence have come to shape this internal refuge.
Música Encantada (Enchanted Music) is the portal between this internal refuge and the real world. It is conceived in memory of a child, Eduard [Eduard Bosch (2004-2005), the author’s nephew], our ‘little star’ who was with us but for a very short time and who constantly sought out places to play, laugh and smile. My fertile imagination led me to recreate Eduard’s short story as a fantastical tale lived amongst spells, wizards and music. Emotions and feelings spring forth with exquisite elegance and poetry in the twelve parts of the book.
Música Encantada was also created with the intention of bringing a collection of pieces that appeal to young players to piano literature. In terms of what it demands technically and artistically, the pieces are of a higher level than those of Música Dibuixada (Painted Music) (Clivis, 1997), thus constituting the next step in the musical growth of the player. The pieces have been composed in such a way that they can be played independently of each other (meaning that the player can perform a selection of the pieces he most enjoys playing), or, should he wish to, there is a certain internal logic and coherence to the pieces which allows them to be played consecutively.
