The piano abilities of Consuelo Colomer are always present in Clivis Publicacions’ catalogue. Following the suite Una mañana en el parque (A Morning in the Park) (E416 ed. 2001), a series of piano compositions ensued year after year, including Caprichos (Caprices), Reminiscències (Reminiscences), Calidoscopi (Kaleidoscope), Dedicatòries (Dedications), Policromies (Polychromies), Les Estacions (The Seasons), Improvisación (Improvisation) and some Petites Variacions (Short Variations) suitable for basic level students.
The piece we now bring you is also split into five scenes, which take their inspiration from the Christmas period in which so many memories abound:
I. Espera (Wait), all the while looking forward to the beginning of the festivities; II. Dansa (Dance), a happy piece; III. Cançó (Song), with traditional roots; IV. Record (Memory), which evokes a certain nostalgia for the past, and finally V. Camperola (Peasant) which, with an allegretto, transmits the joy of living.
Consuelo Colomer’s music is fresh, understanding, and generous in the room it allows for creativity on the part of the player.
