Students of wind instruments often begin to play Mozart’s music at a very advanced stage of their studies. In a similar way to that in which Mozart’s repertoire of music for piano can be performed gradually, from a lower to a higher degree of difficulty, these duets allow students to make a start on this repertoire, providing all the features of the style but with an intermediate level technique.
The duets have been arranged by organising them from a lower to a higher degree of difficulty, and some more difficult extracts have been adapted.
The two books of duets for two clarinets and two saxophones are also designed to be played combining the two instruments; so any of the duets can also be played together with the other clarinet or saxophone version.
The level of difficulty of the parts is very similar, so, in time, the same student can alternate, learning first one and then the other and enriching their musical education.
