Elegy on an Inca theme
The Elegy About an Incaic Theme is a brief piece. This external briefness adjusts perfectly with an internal conciseness of the language, which grants the piece practically symetrical proportions, without the least moment of weakening or discouragement.

The thematic work consists of two basic ideas, the first of which is the actual mentioned Incaic theme, with which it contrasts a second cell which appears with the violoncellos.
The elegy is shaped as a small jewel would be, with the necessary detail, but also with the logical perspective of a structure, the proportions of which we can appreciate thanks to the care of all the elements of the musical language which its author has known how to combine with honesty and efficiency, without easy concessions nor grandilocuent aspirations, in search of a far away atmosphere which evaporates as it is being presented.
Francesc Bonastre (fragment)
