Sonata Concertant has been written by Fleta Polo for the truly essential string instruments: the violin and the viola. For a great part of his life he has played and taught these instruments, and uses them to their ultimate technical, rhythmic and harmonic dimension. In this work, we find them together on an equal standing, with all their similarities and differences yet with the same essential discourse, rising to the challenge throughout the four very intensive movements that make up this work: Moderato, Allegro, Adagio and Allegro Deciso.
It is dedicated to his good friend Abili Fort with whom he shared a music stand in the City of Barcelona Orchestra, now the OBC, and his wife Teresa Güell, with both of whom he had a close friendship.
