Quintet de corda [parts]

Reaching his 75th birthday has prompted Francisco Fleta Polo to intensify his composing. During 2006 he has written works for all possible combinations for string quintets (with two violas, two cellos or double bass), string sextets, wind quintets with a string instrument and string quartet with a wind instrument.
The result is a set of 25 works prophesised by the author himself to be his last great production. In the hope that this prophecy will not come true, we would like to make special mention of this Quintet de corda (String Quintet) in four movements from Fleta’s 2006 chamber music collection: a calm Allegro moderato to start with, a three-variation piece as a dynamic and rhythmical movement, and an Andante calmo before the vertically structured Tempo di valse which forms the last movement.
