The Trio Concertante is divided into three conventional movements. A theme, sad and meditative in character, appears at the beginning which is later repeated at different points in the work. This theme is the outcome of the impression made on the composer by the terrorist attacks of 11th March2004, which happened while he was writing the piece.
Apart from these brief passages, the instrumental treatment is virtuoso and rhythmic in nature. The intention is that the themes which give the piece its forward-moving character and which create its contrasts in density are always perceptible.
