In El lagarto está llorando (The Lizard Is Crying) the author use short modal motifs, emulating living cells that reproduce and diversify to adapt the language to the characteristics of the voice. For the piano part, nevertheless, the composer wanted to be faithful to the poet's own dedication: “To Mademoiselle Teresita Guillen playing a piano of seven notes”. Dos lunas de tarde - 1&2 (Two Evening Moons) From a piano of seven notes, we pass into a universe where the rich totality of the instrument prevail. In La Lola the musicality of the poet can best be valued and appreciated. The composer leaves the dimension of song and concentrates his expressiveness in the richness of the spoken word and the recited gesture. Cancioncilla sevillana (Ditty of Seville), bases its form on the rhythmical impulse of the poem. The popular air is undeniable in this piece, but it is a popularity that maintains its spontaneity.
