Cinc cançons
The catalogue of works by Lluís Benejam contains around sixty pieces which include 11 songs for voice and piano with poems from some of the best Catalan poets. Just three of the manuscripts are dated so we can place them at between 1944 and 1949, thus they were very probably among his earliest compositions. However, they already contained many of the very characteristic features of his music.

The catalogue of works by Lluís Benejam contains around sixty pieces which include 11 songs for voice and piano with poems chosen from some of the best Catalan poets. Just three of the manuscripts are dated so we can place them at between 1944 and 1949, thus they were written during his second period in Barcelona and were very probably among his earliest compositions. However, they already contained many of the very characteristic features of his music.
In this volume we are presenting the first five songs and in order to give the collection a certain unity we have also taken into consideration the poets, all of whom were born in the second half of the 19th century.
The vocal works by Benejam were unpublished until the presentation of this first edition of five songs, which we predict from now on will be adopted enthusiastically by singers.
